European Music Festival 2020 in Sofia – New Dates for the Concerts

The new dates are already known for most concerts of the European Music Festival 2020 program, postponed due to strict measures against the spread of coronavirus on the territory of the country. Due to the complicated situation and the displacement of a large number of events, the festival will be held over a much longer period than usual and some of the events will be shifted towards the end of June and another part in the autumn.

The forum was supposed to be officially opened on March 25 in the 'Bulgaria' hall with the concert 'Ludmil Angelov playing Chopin', now the event is moved to June 30 this year.

Another key event of the festival - the concert of the famous Israeli violin virtuozo Shlomo Mintz, is also postponed until the fall. The musician confirmed the date of October 11, when he will be visiting Bulgaria as a soloist and conductor of the Sofia Philharmonic with works by Mendelssohn, Mozart and Brahms.

On October 20, instead of April 8, the multimedia concert "Cinema and Classics" will take place in the "Bulgaria" Hall with the Classic FM Radio Orchestra and conductor Maxim Eshkenazi.

The 20th anniversary of the European Music Festival is being realized by the Cantus Firmus team as part of the Sofia Municipality's Cultural Events Calendar and co-organized by the Ministry of Culture.
